Having never designed a website before, the Web Design assignment greatly benefitted me by allowing my develop skills in graphic design, user experience, and content management. One of the main design principle I used when creating my website was multiple means of engagement. I often found myself thinking how could I make my website satisfying for both students and teachers? Using    multiple means of engagement allowed me to create graphics that would cater more towards students by using fun colors and illustrations. When creating the parent resource page, I focused on making sure the page was easily accessible and straightforward rather than focusing on an entertaining aesthetic. I always used multiple means of representation between the student and parent resource pages. I utilized tools like numbered lists on the students page to make the page easy to read and comprehend. On the contrary, I used full sentences when communicating with parents to reinforc...

I would describe my experience with blogging so far as positive and insightful. My favorite aspect of blogging is how it allows me to have a space to freely express my thoughts and interests while at the same time being able to receive feedback and comments from others. I love that my classmates and teachers are able to see my posts and better understand my thought processes. Every week I look forward to reading my classmates posts and seeing how what they took away from the class material differs from how I may have interrupted it. This also has helped me gain a better understanding of the class material by gaining outside perspectives. I've learned many valuable technological skills throughout my blogging experience as well. Embedding urls and social media profiles is something I hadn't known how to do before and is a skill I will definitely use in my future careers.       An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I will use when teaching is Google Docs....

When searching through the CPALMS website, I focused on the Computer Science standards that start in the 2025 school year specifically for 6th grade students. I chose to focus on these standards because I feel as though they would be most relevant to my 6th grade English classroom. The specific standard that I chose was emerging technologies. This included three different standards: Identify emerging technologies, Identify Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications, and Identify characteristics of robotics. These standard are extremely important today with the continuous rise of technology in the classroom. Standard 2 SC.6.ET.2: Identify Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications describes how teachers can detect various sources of AI and its applications. I feel prepared to implement this standard in my own classroom because I have been using AI throughout college and have learned how to detect it on various websites and submitted work. This standard a...

Copyright issues in the classroom have drastically increased in recent years due to the rise of technology. Before these technological advances, teachers would deal with copyright issues of students copying from each other or from books. Now, with online research articles and artificial intelligence, there are many different ways students can fall victim to copyright. In my own classroom, I would try to minimize copyright issues by first educating my students on how to correctly cite their sources. Many students don't even know they're copyrighting simply because they aren't citing their work or they're not citing correctly. I think creating a lesson plan on how to cite different online resources would greatly minimize copyright in my classroom. I would also try my best to minimize technology in my classroom where it isn't necessary. For example, doing assignments on paper like essays or reflections will decrease the likelihood of students getting information f...

One of my requirements in middle school was to take a computer class. One of the first concepts I remember learning in this class was how to use MS Word. This allowed me to build a solid foundation for all MS platforms in my high school and college career. In my opinion, MS Word is the most easy application to use when being compared to other applications like Google Docs or Pages. I'm probably bias because I've been using MS Word for so long, but I definitely think that it's the easiest application to navigate, convert, and share. I started using Google Docs more in college when creating documents that are collaborative. I think Google Docs is the easiest platform to share a project with others, but I would still say I use MS Word on a more consistent basis.       I really enjoyed learning about the ISTE Standards for Educators this week because I had never even heard of them before. When browsing through the ISTE Standard for Educators, the stan...

Something I've always struggled with is how to use technology effectively. In the past I've found myself using complicated technology methods simply because I wasn't aware of anything easier. With this class, I'm hoping to learn more about how to use technology efficiently in the classroom that will allow me to educate my students to the best of my ability. Technology has greatly benefitted me as a student, so I'm looking forward to being on the other side of things and seeing how much I can benefit from technology as a teacher.                                               "Trading stocks on a computer" by ota_photos is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0 https://www.flickr.com/photos/101332430@N03/9681097378 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/?ref=openverse        For as long as I can remember I've used technology in the classro...
